It's all in the Taste!  This mild and tender White Shrimp is excellent grilled, fried, sauteed, or steamed...they lend themselves well to almost any culinary creation.

Here's a Tid-Bit on the Farming Practice:
Wood's Fisheries, located in Florida, start with a white shrimp (Panaeus Vanemei) hatched in the Florida Keys then transport them to their facility in North West Florida when they are just a few weeks old.

How does it get a Green Rating?
Most shrimp farms are located in intertidal areas where they exchange water with the surrounding environment, creating concerns about nutrient loading and disease transfer to wild shrimp. Farms that are located inland or use tanks are more environmentally friendly because they avoid such potential impacts. Therefore, they receive a green ranking for being closed containment, whereas open systems in the U.S. are ranked yellow.

Note:  Our Wood's Brand Shrimp uses the inland farming practice.

Energize Yourself!
Shellfish, such as scallops and shrimp, are good sources of Vitamin B12, a vitamin that helps breakdown foods so we can use them for energy.

As it is the season for reflection and taking stock, we like to take this opportunity to share the benefits of purchasing sustainably.  We care about the Sustainable Seafood movement because we want our products to last.  In fact, we'd like all seafood to be available on menus forever!  We'd also like to see fishing communities thrive, preserving that human culture while protecting the aquatic ecosystems they depend on.

In addition to our work with the Local Nature Conservancy, we partner with FishWise to improve the sustainability of our product offerings and convey important information to our customers.  We participate in international sustainability summits and stay abreast of the most recent movements within the industry. We make every effort to communicate the information to our customers by providing fresh seafood market reports that show the ratings.  Additionally, we provide the color-coded ratings on our invoices so our customers are aware of the options they have chosen.

"It is our goal to not only provide our customers the freshest seafood possible with top shelf service, but also deliver a product that is produced in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner."

- Giovanni Comin, President/Owner of Central Coast Seafood

We encourage you to take this time during the Season of Lent to educate yourself on the seafood choices, and we look forward to working with you during your quest.

Known as the "Better Fish", Australis Barramundi is farmed in the US.  One of the world's finest eating fish, Barramundi's succulent flesh is prized for its sweet flavor, delicate texture and remarkable versatility.  Only Australis Barramundi is loaded with Omega-3 fatty acids, contains NO mercury or other contaminants, and is raised without hormones, colorants or antibiotics.  Australis' revolutionary, non-polluting indoor farming system in rural Massachusetts is considered "the gold standard" of sustainable aquaculture.

Artic Char
 Green Rating by
FishWise & Seafood Watch

Though often compared to salmon and trout, Artic Char is a distinctively unique fish with delicate light pink flesh.  A natural cousin to salmon, Artic Char is extremely versatile and easy to prepare.  Its succulent texture is very tender and has an elegant, mildly sweet flavor.  Aqua cultured high in the icy cold waters of the Cascade Mountains in Washington, our farm meets the three principles of the sustainable seafood forum:  healthfulness, socio-economic resonsibility and environmental sustainability.  No antiobiotics or chemical agents are used in the farming of Artic Char and it has been given a "Best Choice" recommendation by the highly respected Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program.
