Remember the good ole days...?

We can all remember our parents or grandparents stating, “I used to walk 3 miles to school…” and the story would get better with time…”I used to hike 3 miles in the snow uphill both ways and barefoot”, we’d all roll our eyes. Listening to fishermen talk about their sea adventures has a completely different reaction. Their stories are real and even if they may be exaggerated, they are still impressive! Heck, I’m impressed even with the subdued version! I’m sure you’ve watched “The Deadliest Catch” and have seen how it paints a graphic picture of how dangerous a life-style these brave fishermen experience on a daily basis, just to make a living. Amazingly enough, we are located in an area where we are privileged to hear the fishermen’s stories right off the boat as they arrive at the dock to unload their bounty for the day. We support our local, environmentally responsible fishermen in the harbors of Santa Barbara, Morro Bay, Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego. And oh the delicious fish we get to look forward to! Spiny lobsters, albacore tuna, yellowtail, opah, black cod, California halibut, swordfish, pacific rock cod, squid, sea urchin, the soles (dover, petrale, rex), white sea bass and more!
This week, we hosted a “Mixer” at Dorn’s Breakers Café for our local Morro Bay Fishermen and their families to thank them for all that they do for us locally and around the world with their fresh bounty from the sea. Morro Bay is one of the premier production sources for quality seafood in Southern California, and we recognize the fishermen for their incredible contribution to continually risk their lives as they hunt the ocean’s treasures.
